Professionals seek knowledge and student need education on Philanthropy

  • Compared to prior generations, the new generation is often seeking “sense and values” in their professional life
  • Social economy, including not for profit, cooperatives and foundations, are generating substantial interest from students of all programs
  • Education at business schools tend to focus mostly, even exclusively, on ForProfit companies’ management skills

Philanthropic sector needs to enhance its management capabilities to focus effectiveness and impact:

  • Philanthropic sector has been progressively evolving towards social entrepreneurship
  • In parallel, expectations from funders shift towards more effectiveness and measurable impact
  • Social leaders are not fully equipped tomeet these evolving expectations and create a productive dialogue with board members and funders

At universities, Philanthropy has been mostly viewed from a societal or social perspective. The development of methodologies and education focused on the Management for Performance and Impact has been very limited.
